  1. Do not change the drop! It is what every great ball striker has done. Check
out wayne defrancesco youtube video Tiger vs Hogan. They dip both on the
backswing and downswing. The dip is critical to a great swing

  2. @jessdmac My idea in teaching is to teach the students with reasons, not
just to imitate like idiot savants. That’s how I learned in the Medical
School. Learning with reasons help your memory and diminish your practice
time or study and without bragging probably the reason why I topped the
Medical Board Exams in my old country.

  3. How do you prevent this student from dropping in his swing. I do the same
exact thing and need to get rid of this. Help!

  4. Just to have the readers understand why head bobbing is bad.–Head bobbing
changes the distance between the upper body axis(base of the neck) and the
ball. There are few error possibilitiesthat one can imaginbe, although one
might also get lucky to hit the ball square if he accidentally returns the
clubface to its original position at address. However, the key to golf is
    consistency.

  5. @jessdmac Jack Nicklaus only likes to keep his head still vertically
because his childhood teacher told him to. Not because dropping your head
on the downswing is actually a problem. On the surface it seems like, sure,
not dropping your head would be a good idea. But if many great players do
it, who are way better at golf than Chuck Quinton or any golf teacher on
the planet, then how can it really be a problem. Saying they are talented
is an excuse. You could use that excuse for anything.

  6. Old school dude. What’s your problem? I drop 7-9 inches and am a 3.9hc but
it truly does hinder my game and puts pressure on my short game. Think what
you want but I believe consistency in posture is key. A longer radius means
more speed. Head drop equals shorter radius.

  7. @jessdmac Yeah, I like reasons too. Never said I didn’t. I’m actually way
better at using them than you are. As proud as you are of yourself for
going to medical school (it does not impress me) you have a basic level
mind when it comes to golf. There are things going on you don’t understand
yet. So get over yourself. There are a lot of factors involved in a golf
swing. And many of them you are completely unaware of.

  8. @oldschoolnewshit Many professionals move their head laterally in the
swing. In fact it is natural and probably more powerful/ But it’s hard to
deny that if you move your head up and down it changes the distance between
the upper body axis and the ball..If you don’t believe about the upper body
axis just look at the clubhead without swinging when you bob your head, it
    also goes up and down..

  9. Yes, it’s a natural movement, called the “Squat” and it’s pure power from
the ground up. Without that movement, power and accuracy is lost. Just
watch all the greatest players, Nicklaus, Woods, Palmer, Trevino and too
    many others to name here.

  10. I’ve been working on getting some of this drop out of my swing no avail.
Here’s what I found, I bet this kids spine angle at impact is within tour
standards, but his address position is too tall. Impact he looks round
32-40 degrees bent over but at address he is probably in the 20s. Put a K
vest on him and check the tour numbers. And yes a drop of 2-4 inches is
common among the best, tiger, rory, Trevino, watney, bubba….also all
bombers. Load and explode kinda like a Plyo box jump!

  11. @jessdmac Yeah, dropping the head on the downswing is bad…..People who
drop their head on the downswing: Tiger Woods, Lee Trevino, Byron Nelson,
Dustin Johnson, Lee Westwood, etc. what a bunch of hackers…..they must
have a lot of problems hitting it fat….

  12. Dude you are right on. Every great player moves their head down in the
swing. wayne defrancesco has proven this in his youtube video Tiger vs
    Hogan

  13. Hogan moved his head back/ forward up and down. There is a video analysis
here at youtube proving this. What is your response?

  14. @oldschoolnewshit You are talking about these very talented people. If you
are that talented go ahead and do it. You can even imitate Jim Furyk who
stands too close to the ball but still manage to compensate.Talk to Jack
Nicklaus about moving the head up and down in the swing.

  15. Thank God for video analysis! It makes you wonder if half the people
talking about Hogan for example, have ever studied his swing on video. I
can not understand these people claiming crap like the head does not go
down. Anyway you are right brother:)

  16. Yes but reason is supported with evidence. I spent most of my life in
science and I am also a golf instructor. Everything I teach is proven by
anaylsis of the greatest ball strikers. For example if Tiger Woods, Ben
Hogan, Sam Snead, Lee Trevino and Johnny Miller among a few lower their
heads in the swing then you should to. The best youtube videos for this are
those by wayne defrancesco look up his analysis Tiger vs Hogan and Lee they
are great. Anyway good with evidence not mindless belief

  17. @jessdmac You are pretty bad at reading comprehension. And you are
pretentiously assuming all types of things. Nobody is doubting that the
head lowering changes the distance from the ball or the spine angle. That
is obvious. What I am saying is that many of the best players ever do this.
    So therefore…it is certainly not a substantial problem…and..maybe it’s
not a problem at all..and..I know this will blow your little inside the box
    mind….maybe it’s actually beneficial….
