  1. poor impulse control 3:35…lol…love that !…explains a lot of issues
    …and not just in golf?

  2. This is probably one of the most pertinent pieces of golf instruction
around today I have been struggling with inconsistent ball striking for
years and after practicing this I finally understand why. It’s an unusual
sensation compared to what I’m used to, almost like I’m trying to swing
past my left side in a way. But wow, much more penetrating ball flight now
and no more ballooning my irons all the same distance. Thanks a lot Lawrie,
    much appreciated.?

  3. Thanks a lot for your very helpful instructions. Whily swinging the golf
club I try to “pull the handle”. Some golf-instructors advise to pull with
the left arm. This instruction confuses me because I am a right hander. So
wouldn’t it be wise to pull the handle with the right arm? Or should I pull
with both hands and equal power?

  4. Sir, I’ve done this drill for 2 days and I have hit the ball like never
before. I did the drill with a 7 iron and 8 iron. Do you recommend trying a
4 iron, or should I stick to one specific ironn? My theory is: if I can do
this drill with a 4 iron, I will be able to hit everything better. Am I on
the right track? Thanks very much.

  5. All your videos do for me is make me wish it wasn’t 1:30am so that I could
go out on the range and practice this stuff. I have practiced just my swing
by applying this stuff, and boy, do I feel better about myself. Time to
pick up where I left off as a 12 year old playing golf everyday 9 years ago.

  6. Well explained! I just wish so many people wouldn’t make personal &
    offensive comments… ::( … In any case… I wou

  7. Thank you (from Belgium) for a great lesson. Usually I have a slight fade.
With this method I now have a draw, that is great for distance but
(usually) not so desirable for an approach to the green. Question: so IMHO
I would say I use it for distance, but do you generally not recommend it
for an approach shot – unless a draw is req’d

  8. Thanks for your question. A useful drill for eliminating the hit impulse is
to use the full-overlap grip when practicing this drill. Overlap your right
hand completely over your left hand with just the right thumb and
forefinger left on the grip. This will give you a dominant left hand
swinging feeling that will help you to release the golf club without the
‘hit’ and allow you to develop a free swinging of the golf club. Turn your
body through to complete the stroke and good luck with it.

  9. I am a +0.5 handicap, yet I am still struggling to consistently flush it
everyday. Contact is different everyday, and can’t seem to find anything
that will stick longer. Any suggestions?

  10. You’re right. This video describes an effective way to deliver the golf
club through the ball consistently with pressure being applied to the ball
at the ideal time. I hope it helps you to hit your golf shots more
successfully. Thanks for writing a comment.

  11. It’s my pleasure and I hope that the information in this video helps you to
lag your golf club the ideal amount for hitting longer, straighter and more
consistent golf shots. Thanks for taking the time to share your comments.

  12. Great video as usual. But I can’t hit my 5 iron. What do I do in particular
    to hit my 5 iron?

  13. Thanks so much for your kind words and I’m very pleased that you enjoyed
    the video.

  14. I’m really pleased that the golf lessons are motivating you to work at your
game and find that ‘younger golfer’ that will bring the joy and simplicity
of the game back to you. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. I
    appreciate your feedback.

  15. Firstly not every golf instructor in the known universe takes average
golfers for idiots. I don’t, and never have. Supple wrists as you describe
it, relates more to grip pressure. The wrist is a joint with tendons
running across it that are influenced by muscles contracting in the
forearms. When grip pressure against the handle is too tight the wrist
joint loses mobility and is made less supple. Relax the grip pressure
enough to gain mobility without losing the club out of your hands… 🙂

  16. I don’t think he takes all average golfers for idiots….just the ones who
don’t know how to spell “suppleness” correctly.

  17. My favorite video on Youtube and one I keep returning to, especially when
my swing is a little off. Thanks a lot Lawrie! One question, does the
simple swing thought ‘hands through the ball before impact’ work with all
clubs, wedges, long irons and woods? Also, do you recommend this swing
thought during play or is only something to think about during practice?
    Thanks..

  18. Thank you for your question. This particular routine is best developed and
practiced using a short iron in practice (8, 9, Pw, Sw). The release motion
with longer clubs is not the same as it is with shorter clubs mainly
because of the length of the club and the plane angle, but by practicing
with the short irons you’ll discover that it transfers into your longer
clubs. Do not think about it whilst playing, the game is hard enough
without adding fuel to the fire LOL. Best of luck with it.

  19. excellent vid. woulda liked to hear about wrist conditions at impact, but
good vid in my humble opinion

  20. Thanks for your question Pete. Yes my hands have have turned over but not
very much in the follow-through stage. It is hard to see with 2D, much
easier if we could see 3D. You’re right though, by the time my hands move
to halfway up they will have rotated over quite a lot more.

  21. Thanks for the advice. Gonna try the L thing next time I get a chance to go
to the range! Keep up the good vids!!

  22. i have some trouble with lag but now thanks to you it has been fixed great
    video and thanks

  23. Your plan of doing this every day – shorter swings – makes sense. I’m going
    to try that.
