Haha #loftup SLDR test video creating quite a stir online. Now we are
questioning the launch monitor. I have got 270 carry out of the ping and
268 from the Covert tour 2.0 but never with this consistency. All very
simple really. #golferscanbefunn?
Why does Taylormade just make the R510 TP again. That driver was definitely
longer. Why did they quit making a great club????
Hi mark, just made the official switch to the sldr after a proper fitting.
I’m going from a 9.5 to a 12!!!!! I never thought in a million years I
would be hitting a 12 degree loft driver, but here I am. I’m getting better
yardage by 10 to 15 in flight and a good roll, it’s an amazing club, and I
couldn’t say better things about the club. ?
HUUUUGE kudos Mark. I’m so impressed you did this, and did it such a
measured fashion. A golf scholar and a gent indeed. ?
Props to taylormade, but it isn’t something that can’t be achieved with
other clubs. If the spin is that low on any other driver with similar
launch angles, it’s the same result. I have the big bertha alpha and I
found that it was virtually the same as the SLDR as I had to loft up
because of such low CG.
Who doesn’t enjoy 15 degree launches with 1700rpms of spin? That’s just
pure distance!?
Hi Mark. I am still using my Wilson Superlite HL 12 degree driver. Even
though not the same technology as TM, the higher loft and launch suit me
fine and are still producing good results and make the game so much more
enjoyable. No silly ego issues to deal with. Even if the spin rate on my
driver must be much higher. ?
Hi Mark,
Just be careful with some of those numbers off GC2, because it can have a
habit of throwing out some ‘goofy’ yardage numbers if it’s not plugged into
a PC whilst doing fittings/testing. Particularly on ball speeds of over
150mph, and particularly low spin results.
It can have a habit of combining the carry+roll numbers together, and show
them as carry only.
It will be interesting to see head to head comparisons when you get back to
Exeter, with the GC2 plugged into your PC, of the SLDR up against the
i25/Covert Tour though.?
I had the SLDR for a while and I didnt care for it. Definitely hit a few
bombs but if you dont hit it out of the middle of the face you can lose a
lot of yards. I traded it in for the very forgiving bio cell. Just ordered
the red tie shaft to bring down the spin a little more too.?
I have a friend that switched over from Callaway pro staff to Taylormade
pro staff…. The only way they could get his SLDR to keep up with his Razr
Fit Xtreme was to make the shaft 1 1/2 inches longer and drop him from an
80 gram to a 65 gram shaft… Suppose to go to the performance center in
Georgia in May, but not too confident I’ll be making a move to anything
T-Mag other than woods… (tour Issue T-Mag woods are deadly) ?
Mark,
Interesting video, but what I want to know is are you able to still hit low
drives with it? Because surely if your into a strong wind, maybe hitting
slightly down (to keep it down) with more loft it will just spin more, not
stay low and not go as far? Basically does loft up work into a strong wind?
Can you keep it down??
Hey +Mark Crossfield, we finally got some good weather here in Canada and I
got out to play a round today. After watching this video again recently it
got me thinking about my old R1 Driver and the possibility that lofting up
would work on this club too. So I did it, I lofted up from between 9.5 up &
10.5 up (which is what I used last year) to 11 deg. (I think? The notch
before 12 deg.). I have to say WOW, the additional yardage is impressive. I
hit what could be the farthest drive of my life and without swinging out of
my shoes to do it, without a downhill run and without the help of a strong
wind. Aside from that one monster drive, I hit 3 other drives 10 yards
farther than the furthest drives from last year and 20 yards farther than
what I consistently hit last year. (I will admit that some of the
additional yardage is from delivering better attack angles this year from
last. Thanks for all the golf knowledge that you pass along to us.)?
Review the SLDR MINI driver?
my only question is that the CARRY distance is longer, but is the TOTAL
distance longer??? Less loft rolls more = more distance.?
Just realised that this TalylorMade loft campaign is misleading and
disingenuous at root – they are actually suggesting that increasing loft
makes for a longer driver – this is actually nonsense – if i increase loft
with my club then range goes down – what is actually happening is they have
optimised a club geometry that is distinctly different to clubs designed by
most manufacturers that gives greatest range in a higher loft – so what – i
could argue that these clubs have poor performance with a normal loft –
really the only standard of comparison is between two clubs each set to
their optimal loft; not the same loft – you may argue that this club is
long, well the only standard is overall performance with the club set to
its optimal settings for a given strike – the loft is irrelevant as this is
only pertinent to this club – i have a feeling that most male golfers
wouldn’t touch this club with a barge pole as they like to look down and
see the numbers 9.5 to massage their ego – i foresee a massive marketing
flop ahead :-)?
Great video Mark, i recently got fitted at woburn golf club for Golf Juice
Tv and the numbers were staggering. i gained 10 yards carry and 10 yards
extra run!! total 20 yards extra!! video to come. ?
Great video Mark, so is the SLDR going in the bag??
10:16, one of my better drives entering the frame. ?
But is 12 yards really worth $450? ?
yeah you get 10 yards more carry.. and 20 yards less roll?
I almost stopped watching these reviews (not really, I love ya Mark)
because they all end up being the same: 255 again, all clubs are the same,
go try it yourself, etc. etc.
Lo and behold, you found a club that is better than all the others, or so
it seems. Definitely will be heading to the shop to test the SLDR!?
I wish my spin was under 2,000 my RBZ Stage 2 has an average of 4200 revs?
From the research I’ve done TaylorMade says that the optimal launch angle
with the SLDR is 17 Degrees and optimum spin is 1700. Did they try to get
your launch angle up to 17 degrees? Or did your distance drop when you
reached 17 degrees??
So is the sldr going in the bag???
all right…now I have to go check one out!?
I hope you enjoyed your humble pie Mark, no more freebies from Gainsborough
now.?
