  1. I struggle with this. What’s the downside? Geoff Ogilvy seems to do it,
and even Jack a little bit. I would love to get rid of it, but will I ever
get the power back? I’ve certainly tried.?

professional. See how Mark helps James with his golf swing with this simple
balance drill that reduces Jame’s early extension in the downswing. Play
    better golf with the AskGolfGuru?

  3. Hi mark great video me and my son have a similar problem with early
extension . Where can we get the balance pads as would love to try that out
    . Cheers .

  4. I have found that the route of my early extending was caused by incorrect
hip turn on the back swing. I am aware of the problem now and it is night
and day with my ball striking. Thanks Mark!

  5. I LOVE this drill. This has been my problem for ages. But I still struggle
with posture as I try to take my swing effort past 80%. Going to my local
sports/fitness store to see if they have these stability balls.

  6. Really trying to get rid of early extension at the moment and am not having
much success with a number of drills – will give this a go, thanks! Amazon
stock the ‘ECO ELITE- WOBBLE CUSHION’ for anyone who’s interested…

  7. Hi Mark Very interesting… i’ve noticed i early extend on the driver and
wood, but not soo much, if at all, on the irons.. why do you think this is?
    thx.

  8. hi mark, im golf teaching pro. What´s the name of the golf swing analyze
program on your computer… Thanks, your videos are really great… Bye
    from Slovakia. Roman

  9. Interesting video, adds an extra dimension to the swing – as I have been
tending to work on my own swing in 2 dimensions only, ie back & through. I
guess on a similar theme a 4th dimension would be maintaining our height
    throughout the swing??

  10. Mark you should modify the mat so the balance balls are level with the mat.
I feel like I would be trying harder to hit the ball off the tee than
    focusing on my balance.

  11. Great drill – there may also be a physical reason why he early extends
though. Impossible to tell without screening him but for example if he
can’t touch his toes or do a deep squat it will be v difficult for him to
stay in position and hold his posture when he’s swinging full speed… This
would be a great drill maybe used in conjunction with working on his
flexibility of ankles, hamstrings and hips?

  12. Great video’s mark thank’s for putting the time in and helping people like
myself and other’s keep up the good work many thank’s richie

  13. I’ve bought a couple of these balance disks or whatever you want to call
them. I too suffer from early extension and like the idea of dialling back
the speed of my swing and focussing on a balanced swing that keeps me at
all the right angles. I’ll let you know how I get on if anyone cares lol 🙂
    Cheers as always Mark.

  14. What do you think of the new TM rocketbladez I’ve heard some say that
Wilson produced something like this years ago….

  15. Nice! I have been using one of those noodle floatation devices to work on
balance. I have never seen those devices James was using. What are they
called and where can I get some? Thanks.

  16. would u not agree that the reason for him not losing his ‘tush line’ is
that he also now has little hip rotation through the ball when on the
discs? theyre barely open at all at impact?

  17. It’s quite uncomfortable to kick the right foot up to tip-toe without shoes
on, therefore using the pads he doesn’t rotate his lower body. In the
‘after’ vid you can see his pelvis begin to tuck under just as he finally
rotates. I use this drill for teaching but with shoes on 🙂 there are other
drills, I suggest if you are a sufferer of this fault combine several
    drills.
