@clemshaw Yes I did watch those and the ones on your dvd’s. I guess the
problem I have is I do not understand how the arms fall. Some videos look
like you are pulling down on the club and other videos look like you let
the arms fall by rocking the shoulders like your spine was tied to a pole.
NW
@chris08051967 They accused Hogan of that too! LOL! But the answer is NO,
NOT A CHANCE! A reverse pivot is when the left knee jets out and the head
dips down forward on the backswing; this loads the left quad and makes you
jump backwards in the finish where the weight finishes on the right side;
this is the most misdiagnosed thing in golf; You will see that at the top
of my backswing, you would have trouble pushing me away or towards the
target and that the momentum takes me to balanced finish.
@joeprunes You need to see more of my videos! LOL!! Of course the weight is
going to be on the forward side BEFORE THE ARMS SWING DOWN; I said TOWARDS
the end of the backswing…AT THE END OF THE BACKSWING, you have re-planted
or braced yourself back against the left side at 70% so that your body is
ready to deliver the action towards the target; see “ridiculously easy;
shawn clement” part 1 and 2 and “downswing weightshift; shawn clement”
videos for a clear picture.
Shawn, what percentage of weight should the left leg take on the backswing?
I love that thought Clemshaw. I think you’ve just moved my game to a new
level-thanks.
@clemshaw so what else am i missing please shawn? I do have the tendancy to
sway slightly, i’m trying to keep my head still and concentrate on my hip
rotation and better shoulder turn.
Hey Shawn – When I first read the title of this video clip I was ecstatic
because I thought you were going to deal with staying ‘present’ in the
downswing and specifically how to be aware of where you were at on the
bottom half of the downswing. That is where I have most of my swing
problems. At a previous golf lesson my teacher said that the downswing is
where most people blank out and lose focus. Do you have any videos out that
deal specifically with this area of the swing? Thx! BOB
Shawn, You have lost a lot of weight since this winter. What is your
secret!!
first lolz
Shawn, been watching and studying your techniques and have questions. Had
lost power after long 10yr layoff. 50yr old hitting 230 was 260 when 40.
Swing now measures 90 mph w driver. After watching your videos I started
bracing against left side and got measured again, Night and day! With only
bracing I got a consistent 10mph increase to 100mph= 260 avg! Problem is
this feels tight as I tilt and brace against left foot edge close to square
through impact. Want to avoid lower knee leg stress.
Shawn, great sharing of fantastic information , as always.
Hi Shawn, I need your help. I lost 50 lbs recently and my swing has broken
down. I hit the range and got my 7 iron (& under) back, but can’t seem to
hit anything higher. I am spraying left and right with pulls/pushes/slices
and hooks. Any tips on how to adjust my set up for the longer clubs? My
adjustments for the 7iron and below 1) I play the ball about 3 inches
closer to my stance 2) I have to takeaway more in order to hit a flush
shot.
Let me get this right. You start 60/40 on left side when the backswing is at
the top you have a 70/30 on the right side and then you start the
downswing? I thought you would have more weight on the left side to start
the down swing. Sorry for not understanding.
@parttroll1 You just need to secure the feel of your target bound action; I
have several videos and analogies for this such as “hammer through; shawn
clement” and “throwing the club; shawn clement”; once you feel that your
set-up matches the picture of the shot, then it’s “what was that feel
again??” Stay with perpetual motion BTW, feel that your already in the
process and the ball is getting in the way of the next swing!
So Shawn from what I’m understanding is that you don’t sway the body or
head actually away from the ball. You basically want to commit to the swing
that you are doing as you’re about to hit he ball towards the target
correct?
Everyone has their own time line of practice; he is a Marathon runner and
plays golf on occasion; this is the drill that gave him THE AWARENESS TO
MAKE THE CHANGES. Be thankful for my hard case students because they are
the ones that make me a better teacher and bring videos like this out to
help others; so now I hope YOU BECOME AWARE that your comment was not at
all appropriate; Good day to you.
Hi Shawn, what a nice reverse pivot, isn’t it??? Best, Chris
@clemshaw So, Where can I get that shirt 😉
@joeprunes Hey JP; this is a question for the forum; too short to answer
here and cannot attach any videos; go ahead and register on my website and
open a thread or look for a thread with this info; we have had many
conversations on this already! 🙂 Shawn
Hi shawn , thank you for your pro tips, but my V-shape knees during
downswing is still not cured, probably doing it wrong.. Nevertheless, to
counter the v-shape, I had my both feet really perpendicular to my targe
line ( understood that it should be open), i felt much less stress at my
knees. I wonder if you have a swing thought that can help me cure his
problem, like what you had done for curing the head from moving foward
during downswing (chopping the tree). Thank you.
@gojipoj When doing Shawn’s lower case Y chip shot you don’t sway. The
Lower case Y swing in some ways is really nothing more than a portion of a
full swing.
The key word you said is feel. When I swing so I can feel my smooth
backswing I know I’m where I want to be. Thanks for this video, it’s just
what I needed to see today! Thanks Shawn!!!!!!!!
Really enjoyed that.
@bluejfk Thanks! Alas, it is just the shirt! 🙂 Still about the same…:(
@plopp1231 The drill you want to master ASAP is the “hogan power drill”
video; then go with the feet together and the one leg drill videos to feel
the proper swivel of the “protruded butt” in the swing which will solidify
your posture’s integrity; oh and BTW, see the “posture integrity; shawn
clement” video too! 🙂 Shawn
