Can it go full manuel with flappy paddles? I spoke to a guy saying you can
only downshift since it automatically shifts up. But thanks for the video
😀 i know what car to get, its really cool! and makes a wonderful sound?
n11 hazerswoude richting leiden…?
Is this your GTI? How is the DSG holding up?
Yes it is mine, the DSG is satisfactory. There have been some minor
occasional glitches when pushed to the limit in manual. In 1 year
(30.000km) I have experienced 2 hickups when shifting manually and about 4
times when it automatically shifted to top gear as a failsafe (i presume).
Also launch control doesn’t work properly for me, but I don’t really want
to use that anyway since it is mostly wheelspin and no traction @ stage 1.
Having said that, I wouldn’t trade it for a manual, it’s great
Yes, it’s 248 BHP, 363 NM torque.
I have it in paddle mode almost all the time. Yes, i feel your concerns
about the extra control with manual, but realize that DSG also gives a
different kind of extra control like downshifting _right_ before steering
into a corner or even during a corner with both hands on the steering wheel
:p If you think about it, the only kind of control you gain with manual is
getting a little bit of extra red-line and the inevitability of a
miss-shift. even pro rally car drivers make those mistakes 😉
I’ve never driven luxury cars with automatic, so I can’t really compare.
It’s not instantaneous, and it’s not really laggy either. It also depends
on what RPM you are doing and some fuzzy logic in the gear box. You get
used to it I think and maybe I anticipate a bit of lag, I am quite
satisfied. the best way to find out if you like it would be to test drive it
No, Netherlands
I think it’s well balanced, it’s obviously not a track car but on the road
it is faster than 98% of the cars out there (especially after stage 1).
Sure the occasional porsche, merc amg, bmw m, audi s / rs is faster, but
then you realize you have a budget 🙂
Does it change gear immediately when you pull the paddles, or do you have
to wait, like in a mercedes or other luxurious cars?
I had an ibiza Cupra DSG and glad I got rid of it before the snow hit (I
live in Scotland). I am glad I did because even with paddle shift I
couldn’t just pop it into second which would be handy in snowy conditions
for pulling away. I’m unsure if there is a winter setting in the Golf where
the driver can over ride this but there certainly was not one in the Ibiza
which really was my only fault of the. DSG.
Is this golf stage 1 in the video? if so what hp is it putting out? 250?
A Dream!
Ive had a Gti mk7 dsg for about 3 weeks now and i won’t ever go back to
manual, great car..
Did you have it in D, S, or paddle mode? I’m still debating on manual vs
DSG. Love manuals, love the extra control. I know they’re slower than DSG,
but also weigh less.
automatics have never been that well.. but DSG gearboxes is differend. this
might be a reason for me to drive dsg instead of manual.
I live in Chicago, I just bought the 4 dr 2013 base model GTI automatic. My
first VW and I`m super satisfied!
very nice
thinking about getting the 2013 4door model with the dsg, only thing is
that ive herd some horror stories about the reliability of the gti’s.
Yeah, it’s definitely a problem now with the snow here, it’s also way too
agressive for winter conditions especially at stage 1. The difference
between slowly pulling away and slipping tires all the way through 3rd gear
is about 9% vs 10% on the throttle. You can blame it on the DSG, however I
blame it on too much power on the front wheels. Solution Golf 7 R? I can’t
really help but remain in love with DSG, however next car will definitely
need to be 4 wheel drive 🙂
