Im a shorter guy and have cut my putter down to about 32 inches. People
think its funny but I make a lot of putts. I had to use quite a bit of tape
to make up for the shaft diameter when I regripped, is that the right way
to do this? Should I add weights in the shaft to make up for swingweight
differences? Thanks.?
Do you sell those mirrors or how can I set one up for me?
There’s no “proper posture”. Do whatever works for you. ?
awesome, thanks, I”m going to have all of my employees watch this video for
our customers.
this is definitely good advice however I go with what feels best and
currently im 5 foot 10 inches tall and my putter is 35 and a half inches
long which should mean too long but I have great accuracy with it and can
do all sorts of shots especially breaking putts. If it helps goes with what
feels best for you. Ralph has great tips but no one thing will work for
everyone so as he says get custom fit. Also you can do what I did and spend
several hours testing out putters and see whats comfortable
what is wrong with choking up on a putter does it make that much of a
differnce i shoot 75 to 80 everythime with a 2 to 3 inch choke up on my
putter dont spend extra money getting a club
fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very informative. Thank you!
You wouldn’t pick a suit off the rack and walk out with it without making
sure that the shoulders and sleeves are at least perfect? Wouldn’t you? All
golf club should be fitted and especially the putter. That was the first
club that I’ve fitted to based on my stroke type and the length. Maltby is
one of the smartest when it comes to golf equipments. He is responsible for
GolfWorks at GolfGalaxy and he is on the same level as the PING people…
ok wow, this guy is crazy. he is so wrong. you can put with anything. just
pick a putter that you like and you practice with it and get used to your
putter and you will be good with anything. the one thing he does say that
is good is to keep your eyes over the ball. but dont read into this too
much. just have a really loose grip and slow back stroke and follow through
towards the target.
you look like you are using a club from mini golf… I think a lot depends
on posture.
I agree with this 100%.. I must say that cutting down the putter throws the
swingweight off…Heavier heads are needed to counteract this…That’s why
I use a 365 gram putter head…Otherwise, I totally agree..
Like it!
how long should a shaft be for a person 6 ft 2″ ?? im using a 35 ” and a 34
” not sure which feels better or if that length is even close to right
Great video!!!, Check the Optimizer putter as well. It truely complements
this
For those saying not to cut down your putter is bad advice. The problem
with having a longer putter by 2 to 3 inches makes you grip the putter
tighter, because if you try to grip it loosely the weight will actually
cause your wrist to break so slightly. It is enough to push or pull the
ball. Also, your distance control suffers. The longer the shaft the higher
the swing weight. in addition having a longer shaft does not allow you to
place your hands on the grip in the same place each time.
……..when you have a bad day putting. The longer shaft forces you to
find a different spot on the grip to correct your putting flaw for that
day. This forces you to become inconsistent over time.
@smellofpissoffu it just depends is you like to be hunched over more or
not. i would say stick with the 35 inch. look at phill though and some guys
on tour, some guys have really short putters, but most have around 35 inch.
just put with what ever you like better.
So I guess I shouldn’t have pulled the trigger on that 35″ putter………
Also make sure you’re happy with your putting stroke before chopping your
putter down. I cut 2in off my Bettinardi BC2 and put a grip weight in to
re-balance it but then a year or so later I found my more consistency
changing to a Runyan style stroke which then meant the putter was way too
short and needed replacing. :/
@ace10122 Thats because most guys on tour are probably over 6 feet tall.
