So should there be a chart, broken down by each club and clubhead speed,
showing the clubs loft angle, ideal distance, ideal attack angle, ideal
path angle and ideal dynamic loft? This must exist as the manufacturers
cannot design new clubs without it.
?
Can you do a “part III” covering the draw/fade weighting and its
effectiveness? ?
So basically no loft change is going to help you if you dont know how to
swing consistantly??
I really like your sensible approach to golf and equipment, Mark. Thank you
for the sound advice, and your good instruction! Your driver instruction,
and long iron instruction videos have already helped me. Youtubers, if you
haven’t seen Mark’s videos on driver launch angle considerations, and long
iron swing commitments, I would highly recommend you do. They are very
helpful, and the points are very well explained by Mark.
you deloft a driver if you open the face – for every 1* degree you deloft
your driver by around 0.6* (or something like that) and vice versa for
closing the face.
agreed. i think game improvement tech should be used after you develop
strong fundamentals. I learned on a vintage set of blades from the 1970s.
i have a question can you compare the nike sq sumo 5000 and 5900 with the
dymo and dymo 2 and machspeed with the machspeed black round and square
driver
hey mark, just wondering if you would be able to do a slow-motion video of
your swing. I’ve been watching your swing a lot to try and help fix mine,
and a slow-motion video would greatly help me see all the mechanics of a
good golf swing. cheers!
Mark haven’t you just proved that custom fitting is pretty pointless if you
have a different angle of attack on every swing?
What about spin rates? For instance if the launch angle is12 degrees for
two different clubs but in situation 1. you have hit a 12 deg driver level
2. you have hit a 8.5 Driver with 3.5 upswing. Does the back spin stay the
same or does it change. If it changes what would be considered a better
option and why?
@lilmikeii24 Haha your such a twat
FIRST 😉
I started playing with blades. I’d suck if not for that early feedback.
I completely agree. I was helping give lessons at my course and I remember
two students that show this perfectly. One had Mizuno MP-32 inherited but
re-shafted and fit. The other had had R11 everything. At the beggining they
both had probably around 30 handicap. But after around a year the student
playing the 32’s had around 12-13, while the student with R11’s had just
barely broken 20.
Mark, You unsuccessfully attempted to influence launch angle results by
repeatedly changing your angle of attack – presumably aware that loft /
launch angle cannot be manipulated via an adjustable sleeve. They just
don’t work. Please see Tom Wishon’s thorough investigation / report. ‘A
Technical Discussion & Report on Adjustable Hosel / Adjustable Sole Piece
Drivers in the Modern Golf Industry.’
I have the r11. does it not close the face when u ‘deloft’ too?
I agree – learn to play, don’t learn to pay
what loft do you use mark?
hello mark about three weeks ago i bought a callaway razar x tour hybrid
please do a review on it i love this club and i think others would to ! do
some hybrid reviews like adams and callaway
totally agree mark, I’ve had a glued 8,5 driver for 6-7 years and at first
I launched it skyhigh and now with my swing changes I’ve brought that down
and it’s almost too low at the moment. The adjustability does work but the
swing of an amateur is too inconsistent for this kind of fine tuning. You
are better of with teaching yourself how to manipulate the swing to get the
desired trajectory.
You have got to be one one the best teachers period. I learned so much over
the years. Thank you for another great lesson
Hey mark just a little question about the taylormade rbz 3 woods. What are
the some of the shaft option ???? Thanks
Great fan of yours Mark , your videos are always honest and intuitive. In
many of your videos you advocate the benefits of custom fitting. However,
in this particular video there seems to be an underlying message that the
“average golfer” would not have a swing consistent enough to warrant the
benefits from custom fitting. Do you have any thoughts on that ?
i didn’t say anything bout new clubs
Good video but I think it needs a part two. You didn’t mention the pros of
adjusting loft; for example you are fitting someone who’s swing is good but
needs something in between a 9.5* and 10.5* to get optimal numbers. I’m not
too knowledgeable about this but my best friend who plays at a low digit
handicap had to adjust his R11s to the lowest setting to keep his launch
and spin in check. I assume this is a positive.
