Sorry I haven’t got back to you guys. .. The weight of the mat holds itself
down. No adhesive necessary. If I stuck it down, I wouldn’t be able to get
to the holes to use the rubber tees. ?
Very nice range?
09HDSofT, if you don’t mind me asking, what kind of adhesive did you use to
bond the mat to your plywood? Thanks in advance!?
Just placed my orders for the mat and net to make this exact set up. Way
pumped! Thanks for putting together this video!?
How is the mat secured to the ply? ?
Nice poster in the backround?
I’m diggin the set up very nice?
Any chance you can give me the dimensions of your frame? I think I heard
you say that your mat is a 4X5. If this is a case did you just make the
frame one inch wider on all sides so that the mat would fall into place, or
was there more to it than that? Thanks in advance.?
great setup, love how you made your own. I’m waiting on my Real Feel to
come in
I was going to do the same thing but I figured if I was going to hit driver
I would need more stability to stand on… Nice thing about the strips is
you can take them to the range really easily… If you can save up some
money, Id say wait to get a bigger mat that will fit all your needs…
Attached another 10 section of pvc to the bottom then I ran some parachute
cord up the sides of the net, thru the eye bolts and back down the center..
check out 8:05
great setup would love to make my own
I actually thought about the “cage” style during this build but was limited
by a few factors. I had to have a retractable net so I could get my car in
and out and the L design doesnt lend itself to be a good retract design and
the price I paid was what I could afford at the time. I have had a couple
hosel rockets miss the net but I set it up so even if I had the worst miss
of my life, I would only have to fix a hole in the wall, not a window.
I havent hit my driver thru the net… ITs holding up very well after about
5000 shots in the same general area. I havent noticed any wear marks or
potential blow outs. They make a great product. I expect it to last me for
20 more years of so..
I dont know the exact dimensions.. I measured the outsides of the black
foam rubber on the bottom of the mat and screwed some 1″x1″ square posts
together for the frame. Then I cut 2 big peices of plywood to fit the
outside borders of the frame and attached that to the very bottom of the
frame for added stability and rigidity. It is quite heavy and cumbersome
but it holds up and doesnt move even if I swing out of my shoes…
just got the 5×5 and im thinking of building a frame for it also. what’s
the main advantage of framing it? looking back would you do it again? I
will be moving my net/mat (as we still use the garage for the vehicle)
would this help with that? thx, great setup
Just built the same net in my garage… Thanks for the I build idea…love
it! My question would be the build of the mat frame. I also have a elite
golf mat and would like to build a frame. Just seem to be a bit off on the
dimensions/ materials you used. thanks.
Awesome design great inspiration to get mine started. I have a questions
about the net, How did you design the net to be retractable?
I built the frame to make it a bit heavier so it didnt shift on me when I
was swinging but it added about 40 lbs to the rig so its very clumsy now
and really just sits on my garage floor and I scoot it out when I use it…
the mat had some rolls in it from the shipping process so needed the frame
to keep it straight as well. If you do frame it, make sure you use the
dimensions of the rubber pad so the turf will naturally hang over the edges
when you have it in place… Good Luck!!!
Ps…you haven’t hit your driver through your net have you? I’ve run into
issues like that in the past.
Can you please explain your ‘penny’ drills?
I love the range, I’m going to build something as well. I like those golf
mats but it’s a little out of my price range. I was thinking to go with the
small real feel mat and the stance pad but not sure how great that would
feel hitting a ball. The 4’X3′ mat would be nice but I wont be able to
stand on it with a driver. I was thinking to just build up the part where
my heels would be with some carpeting just so if I wanted to hit driver I
could fit it in. Any input would be great. Thanks
Name: #21 X 3/4″ Knotted Nylon Netting 10′ X 10’…..Diamond cut with rope
border ….? Directly from my reciept
Fantastic set up. I love this idea. My thoughts: and thinking here of the
kids and when I accidentally hit a toe shot or a hozzle rocket 45 degrees
to the right…. What about getting a wider net (same height) and making
the extra width into a right side guard? Make an “L” shape pvc frame at the
top and let the net come down the right side as well. Any thoughts on this?
Your work here is great, just looking to save my children from hitting each
other and my garage door windows.
Penny drills.. Can be done two ways.. first is to set a penny down in front
of the ball and try to hit down on the ball so I can collect the penny on
the way thru… Try moving the penny further away from the ball to check
how big of a divot you would be taking. 2nd way is to do the same thing
just without a ball and look for the same results
