  1. OK, this is one I must comment on Mark. And I am doing so from personal
experience. When these came out (after an extremely long production period
with many, many delays), I purchased 2 devices; 1 for me and 1 for my 8
year old son. We used them quite a lot in the first couple of months, and
we play 5-6 days a week.
Like you indicate, after the first time or two it became quite natural to
“tag” before each stroke so that wasn’t a problem at all. It is also a very
small device that fits quite nicely on your belt. And when we had our rain
gear on, it was easy to put the device in our pocket and it would tag
without having to take the device out; right through the pocket, so that
    was convenient as well.

However, the one thing that just killed it for us was the fact that it is
just not very accurate. I got so frustrated after uploading our rounds
because I had to spend way too much time “moving shots around” because they
weren’t in the right spot. Namely, 10 – 20% of the time there were numerous
tee shots that were not even inside the teeing area. And about the same
percentage had shots that were clearly on the green, but when it was
uploaded the site indicated the shot “not” on the green. It just became too
much of a hassle to have to move that many shots around just to get the
round correct. And this is something you must do because if you don’t your
stats are all screwed up which completely defeats the fundamental purpose
    of the device.

I even recently received an email from Game Golf telling me that they had
noticed that I hadn’t uploaded any rounds in quite a while and they wanted
to know if there was a problem. Well, I told them the same thing I have
said here. The guy responded by apologizing for the device being inaccurate
and he said they were working hard on getting it to a point where it is
    more accurate.

Bottom line is, I think the intended purpose of the device is spot on and
it would indeed help a person learn the exact things you talk about; but at
a price. That price is spending the time “fixing” each round after it’s
uploaded to the Game Golf site. Being a software developer myself, I just
cannot in any world understand why they cannot get a tee shot not in the
teeing area when the round is uploaded. I even spoke to a developer out
there and was told that they actually map each teeing area and green by
tracing it so they know the exact coordinates. Knowing this even more
frustrates me when I see a tee shot not in the teeing area of the map in
    the uploaded round.

Finally, if you are willing to spend the time needed to fix each and every
round then this device will give you solid stats that will help your game.
And, when they do finally get the GPS issues sorted out and get the device
more accurate, I will certainly begin using it again. Except for the
accuracy issues, I do think this is a good device for the reasons you
    indicate Mark.

That’s my take on this from a guy who owns 2 devices and has used them
quite a bit in the beginning.?

  2. It’s a nice system but you could do something very similar using an iPhone
and a GPS logging app. All the data you need is “where am I?” and “what
club am I about to hit?”. If I knew how to write apps then I’d make a £4.99
    version.?

  3. Looks great, thanks for the review. But how would it know where the
fairways are cut? Seems approximate at best. ?

  4. Is it available for the Netherlands yet?
I hook, find water, bushes whatever. How do you log these strikes when you
take a penalty (out of bonussen, water, unplayable) ??

  5. That is a really good idea, I only see one flaw/issue. I have to assume it
cannot give you stats on putting distances as the flag can move around and
the system will not know where it is from day to day, correct? But that’s
just a small matter everything else looks good.?

  6. Hi Mark, I love the videos, long time fan. I actually use a service like
this called “Swing by Swing.” It’s something that I discovered about a year
ago. It’s an app on my phone that uses the built in GPS. What I like about
it, is that will give you most if not all of the same stats as “Game Golf”,
but it will also give you ranges to the green or hazards. Granted if the
course is mapped. Another nice feature is it gives you a satellite photo of
the hole you’re on. Particularly helpful if you’re unfamiliar with the
course. I wonder if you have seen this or not or if anyone else has seen
    it? ?

  7. My friend has this, but I haven’t had the chance to ask him about it.
Thanks for the review, Mark! Also, Tiger Woods needs a nee coach now, so…?

  8. Hi Mark, where from and how much please, I have an ES14, cheaper launch
monitor, however thos would be great. Cheers?

  9. Can you do a review of the ES14 Launch monitor by Ernest sports (it’s cheap
    )

And SC100 by swing caddie also a cheap ” launch monitor “?
