I wish I could like this video 100 times. Extremely helpful video Mark. You
are making the world better golfers. ?
Nice Mark nice – in fact i’m doing the very thing you suggest golfers get
to: at the top of the swing i’m right on line (not laid off or across the
line) but when i start my downswing i lay the club back (it looks like it’s
laid off when i start my downswing) and the club starts a little too flat.
in fact, it looks a little laid off, but somehow i’m not attacking the ball
from an in to out path. Any ideas on how to fix??
How to improve your club path with unseen footage of Ben Hogan
?
There are a number of players that steepen on downswing, eg Stadler and
son, Craig Parry and loads more.
How do they hit it so well without shanking and slicing? ?
Mark,
I’ve sliced badly (I suppose there’s not a “good” way to slice) all my
life. Completely abandoned the game when I was about 20. Now, 30 years
later I’ve decided to make a serious go of it. Always heard the “outside
in” swing fix, but could never figure out exactly how to do that and still
hit the ball right. Your explanation of the hand vs. shaft plane is
brilliant!?
Once you do this drill don’t be surprised if the men in white coats come
and take you away for an undisclosed period!!?
Surely if the lower body starts the downswing properly, this shallowing
out/plane drop, occurs naturally. I don’t think Hogan and Snead are
actively doing this, they just have great sequencing that causes it?
This helps me a lot thanks, especially after reviewing Sasho Mckenzie’s
findings on the golf swing – hand plane vs shaft plane. Cheers.?
Mark, your videos are great for young guys but will you think about us old
boys (over 60) and some swing tips when we aren’t as flexible as we once
were.?
How to improve your club path with Mark Crossfield AskGolfGuru?
what a fantastic drill, try this even if its just on the grass with no
ball, it feels so much more natural ?
would this laying of the club shaft back technique also apply to a driver
swing? I struggle with a slight out to in swing causing a push/slice.?
great video. I believe this will make improvements?
Hey mark great tip only tried a couple of swings but instant success,
thanks?
Can’t wait to try this. This past month I’ve started getting this habit,
except at the bottom I quickly shove my hands and path out to the right so
my swing appears to be 7 degrees inside! Hooks on hooks! But it starts with
the over the top then the correction near the bottom. Thanks!?
Morning! Have you thought about the Callabertha Golf Training Wizard, (I
went to google and it looks quite interesting) I heard some extraordinary
things about the results other golfers have had with it, my m8 got cool
results with it. Yeah cut 5 strokes in just a couple of weeks?
Going to try the 3 ball drill tonight I think?
@Mark Crossfied is this like the “hogan secret” layin the club off? where
you have your knuckles on you left hand pointing down, the suppination at
the start of the downswing??
This is totally me! Thanks Mark – will work on this drill.?
Mark. Wonderful HD videos. You’re the best. I’ve seen this move described
elsewhere in Hogan-related material, but no explanation of why it works.
Can you explain more detail about the move? Thanks?
what’s the ideal club to best tape and judge your swing with??
I have had this exact problem forever, and no matter what I try I can not
flatten the shaft at the top. What feels correct for me like pulling on a
rope to begin the downswing, and pulling the butt end of the shaft towards
the ball achieves a vertical shaft over my shoulder like chopping wood. I
get the club in the slot and on plane fine when my hands reach waist level,
but I can’t get the shaft on plane sooner. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever
tried. Playing to a 6 handicap you would think I could do it, but it has
been impossible. Hopefully one day.?
If you would lag the clubhead a bit in the backswing this would maybe feel
more natural to lag/drop the club in the downswing but I am not sure if
that is the right kind of lag/drop? This would be more like using a whip,
you lag the whip going back and then you lag the whip coming through.
Another cause of the steep downswing could be pulling the left shoulder to
quickly back towards the target while maybe better players keep their left
shoulder a bit longer in place allowing the clubhead to drop.?
