A common understanding by amateurs is that if you hit your provisional ball
a second time it becomes the ball in play even if you find the original
ball further down the fairway. I try to explain rule 27-2b and players
don’t accept that you can still play a provisional up to the point of where
the original ball is expected to be found. Is there any supporting
documentation that illustrates this situation.?
