Hi Kate, difficult to give a ruling without being there. However, the
nearest point of relief must be on the course, not out of bounds. The
nearest point is also not nearer the hole and complete relief must be taken
from the cart path. Your nearest point of relief was most likely along the
line your ball took before entering the cart path. Mind you, it seems like
it could have been some distance back from where you would have dropped if
the out of bounds wasn’t there. Hope this helps.
Hi, I had the ball land in the middle of the path with the nearest point of
relief being out of bounds (a small fence lined the side of the path to
where I needed to drop the ball), I wound up playing off the path but what
would you do in that instance (the green was quite close to the other side
