People who truly have the chipping yips will know this is pure bullshit. I
don’t know who said it, but:
“Once you’ve HAD the yips,,,you HAVE the yips.”
I’ve got the chipping yips and there is no way out of it. I’ve invested
1000’s of hours trying to get rid of this dreadful problem. I can do it in
practice, but I’m a basket case on the course with a tight lie.
I’ve actually given up playing rounds of golf. All I do is practice now –
I’m sad.?
thanks very good!?
Good points you are makin gabout controlling distance on short shots. Thank
you. Some of the comments you have received are quite unfortunate. Do not
be deterred. Keep up the good work. You guys know what you are doing.?
You two are a pair to total fucking retards fair play…. and you advise
is pretty shitty ?
nice vids but try wearing something different you homos! Or hold hands for
us.?
I’ve found the opposite to be true…People who struggle with their
chipping tend to take really big backswings and then decelerate through the
ball. ?
So, that is what i am doing wrong – okay thanks from now on I will keep my
eyes closed.?
Winter is Coming!?
That helps. Perfect.?
I find the majority of golfers who are completely inconsistent with their
chips & shorter pitch shots have overactive hands and don’t keep the angle
formed by the right hand through impact, to much arms & right hand flip
instead of controlling these shots with the turning of the body. Although
you don’t want ‘forced & quick’ acceleration through these shorter shots
(as that lead to inconsistent strikes & distances) you still want to have a
smooth ‘speed’ through impact, you don’t want deceleration, a smooth body
turn controls this much more consistently. Although you don’t want a short
& over quick backswing you will have to guard against an overlong one which
also will lead to a quit through the shot, again I find this is better
controlled by a body turn and maintaining the right wrist hinge through
impact on these shorter shorts.?
Good tip, thanks 🙂 for short chips I also had success by focussing on my
shoulders rocking like with putting and not taking my eyes off a couple of
dimples at the back of the ball. Not thinking about the hands at all makes
them go quiet and stop trying to get in on the chipping action. It’s
amazing they go on auto mode and seem to know what to do instinctively
which is to hold the angle softly.?
How about pitching? Should I have the same smooth thinking?
I have no problem in the long game (hitting the ball first, than turf), but
when it comes to pitching the ball I normally hit fat or shank the ball.
Thanks, keep up the good work?
I have terrible chipping yips from the fairway (no problem from rough).
Whilst I’m convinced more than 50% of the problem is mental/lack of
confidence as opposed to technique, I’ll definitely give the ‘eyes closed’
a go. I’ll try anything. Thanks guys, keep up the great work.?
Hey Guys, Would this tip also apply to distance control for pitching??
Guys, when you say you ‘feel’ the clubhead, is there a certain spot that
you recommend in the hands or fingers that you should get that sensation?
For example, if I were to toss a ball, I’d feel it in my first two fingers.
Thanks for this video.?
thanks!?
Hi, this has definitely helped when practicing but I find that as soon as I
get on the course with a scorecard in my hand I start to struggle again. I
know it must be psychological but do you know of anything that could help
me when on the course. ?
Hi guys, sorry but your video has nothing to do with the yips, the yips are
just before impact with the ball you come in contact with the ground first
causing your left shoulder to jump up this in turn means that you top the
ball?
So when I go to hit my chip shot from the fringe and end up blading it
across the green, I assume the clubhead has overtaken my hands in that
short amount of time. Should I keep my wrists locked all the way through
the shot to maintain the face angle I had at address??
I have been trying to accelerate through as I know how bad decelerating
is! This idea of a steady pace makes a lot of sense. Thanks.?
what club did you use.? If you had to chip from 10 feet further back would
your club selection change? BTW great tips.?
When you are chipping do you have to rotate your wrist just like when you
are doing full swing??
Guy’s is it a problem if I over exaggerate the follow through to help a
smoother chipping swing??
