great explanation short sweet and simple thanx for posting the video, great
work,?
Excellent advice, delivered simply and concisely. This guy should be used
by Sky Sports Golf rather than some of the teaching pros who seem to love
the sound of their own voice!! ?
Another excellent lesson Mark. Simple and straight to the point.?
Everyone knows we need to take a divot after the ball, but how? I don’t see
that explained well in this video.?
How about, say, a short iron teed up on a par 3? Are you generally teeing
the ball low enough that you still take a divot (assuming no wind)? ?
@helvetesjevla if you hit the ball first it wont mater if your on grass or
atrificial turf
who thinks they should be taking a divot before the ball? o.O
if your only hitting a nine iron 100 yrds i would imagine you are placing
the ball much to far foward in your stance and thus skying it, move the
ball back in your stance and watch this vid again it offers a great
explanation…..average man should be hitting a nine iron 130-ish or even
more
Mark I realize you are trying to simplify the explanation but a “thinking”
player will naturally ask how can you hit a ball on the upswing and still
take a divot/scrape post impact? 🙂
nice concise explanation, I like this guy even though he’s a Brit……he he
i have to disagree with this i am 15 years old i play golf almost every day
i am the captain of my highschool golf team. i am not very strong and i
consistently hit my 9 iron 140 yards. an adult who plays golf regularly and
makes decent contact should be able to hit a 9 150 easy.
Graphite?
play the ball further in your stance with fairway woods. thus you will hit
them slightly more on the upswing.
I’m 19 yrs old, 5′ 6″ and weigh 135 lbs. But I hit my irons arounds 145
yards consistantly. So I agree with rmp43 that an adult (who is a bit
bigger than me) who strikes is pretty consistently should fly it around 150
yards.
if you have the room in your house make swings (no contact) and hear for
the swooshing noise, possibly in combination with Golf Sense or 3 bays,
etc.; putting practise on carpet; workout: strength + flex; get stuck in
with Mark X-field and others on the net 🙂
Mark I went to a Pro for lessons I was bought as a X-mas present. Amongst a
lot of other changes he insisted on, was the ball position for all clubs
was just a few inches behind my left heel. This is contrary to how I played
the game for many decades (albeit infrequently in my youth) where wedges/9
iron are towards the right foot moving through the clubs to the long irons
and woods behind my left (with 5 iron mid stance). What’s your take on his
method as it seems at odds with you and others?
Awesome job Mark, you are a great teacher
sorry im tired. by further i meant, closer to your front foot. play around
with your stance until you find what you like.
The reason why your divots are BEHIND the ball is because you are releasing
the club TOO EARLY. You need to release the ball with your hands infront of
the ball. You might be releasing early because you are leaning backwards or
not keeping your eye on the ball. Try not to “flip your hands”. Check out
his video on “releasing the club head”.
@itubeutude thanks mate
thankyou for the videos you put up, they really are a great help. i have
just been given a really good set of mizuno clubs,M30.i am taking lessons,
but your tips really help. once again thanks.
Your swing is text book…. Great videos.. I came across you looking for
driver reviews…thanks for the clarification..
Thanks a lot for this video. I’m new to golf and this helped me out.
mark what is the best advice you have for a high school golfer trying to
improve their game while being indoors unable to be outside? thanks for any
answer
practicing backspin off of the range carpets is a bad idea then i guess?
since you wont get that “divot” action going on, or can you attack it from
the right angle and then just ignore whats happening afterwards?
