  1. I tried Tiger’s chipping set up and used it for my round yesterday.
Woefully uncomfortable. Tiger says that he plays the ball forward of his
left foot and then opens his stance. Conversely, I used his set up for
pitches and I was perfect within 40 yards. I wish he would do a complete
    explanation of his technique. ?

  2. Nice try… buy way too slow and jerky. Tiger used to have great rhythm on
chips/pitches prior to adapting Foly’s action. Too bad…

  3. What do you know about what Tiger has compromised? Tiger doesn’t believe in
two different releases. People don’t seem to understand that if he decides
to change his release, it’s going all the way through the chipping motion.
If there’s one thing following his career has taught us, it doesn’t matter
which motion he uses, he’s gonna be the best after getting enough reps at
    it.

  4. no, i havent noticed anything a-typical from tiger’s chipping! fair enough
on the canned memorial flop. however, i’d like you to point out an example
of tiger displaying a ‘hit mentality’ with a chip? haven’t seen one during
play and i’ve watched him recently up close, in person from against grain,
tight lies. so comparing his chipping action to westwood’s is irresponsible
at best. and foley shouldn’t even enter the conversation!

  5. “Super slow motion” hahah, This is called Frame by Frame motion. Learn the
difference, don’t make yourself seem like a retard on the internet, never
    works out.

  6. it’s blue and brown and has a sort of raffia work base……….but
seriously he picks the club straight up there and gets under it like a
    little pitch shot

  7. Yeah, you’re probably right DB… but for the record, show me some GREAT
short games that are driven PURELY with an in-to-in pivot motion. IMO, a
great short game requires a certain amount “swinging” motion that’s relies
on gravity. The great short game players don’t fight gravity and
centripetal force, they make use of it. Just my take…

  8. Thats because those 2 guys have probably the best short games on the pga
    tour.

  9. OK Stecklein/Smartass Jr., let’s see what you know… first of all, the
shot that won Tiger the Memorial was not a chip, it was a full-swinging,
open-faced pitch/flop shot. Tigers rhythm on full swings still looks spot
on. It’s his rhythm on chips and short (10-40 yd) pitch shots that seems to
have changed for the worse. Before Foley, I never saw any “hit” in Tiger’s
short game. Now his action looks more like Lee Westwood rather then Luke
Donald. Are you the only one who hasn’t noticed this?

  10. “You’re going to die up there.” What’s that quote from? Also, nice
    punctuation you little maggot.

  11. fair enough. i’m sure tiger has skulled chips in the past. he isn’t a
robot, he’s human. you may be correct. you may not. i’m just not sure how
foley’s full swing mentality plays into it. also mahan’s positions from
start to finish are phenominal. he defines being on-plane. i just think
tiger put his short game on the shelf and became too obsessed with full
    swing.

  12. It’s funny because Phil teaches the hinge and hold and Tiger uses a
variation of it pretty much. Not dead handed like Stricker or Donald, but
always keeps the hands in front of the club head just like Phil.

  13. really? nice try bud! he won the memorial with several stellar chips
including one that went in to seal it at the end. foley hasn’t touched his
chipping he’s just spent less time on short game while working on long
game. too bad you don’t know what you’re talkin about!

  14. Before this year, I’ve NEVER seen Tiger literally blade/scull a chip/pitch
across a green and off the other side. I’ve watched him do it twice this
year… Westwood is liable to do this at any moment. Did you forget Tiger’s
chip on the 18th during the 3rd round of the US Open at Olympic this year?
OMG !! IMO, this “swing-left”, Mahan looking motion that Tiger loves, has
compromised his ability to simply use gravity/momentum to power his short
    game action. Just my take…
