I can’t believe that a 13 handicapper only hits 240 yards …?
Would really be nice to see Rob hit the D3 as well. Would be a great
comparison of the forgiveness between the two. I just ordered a 913D3 (915
outside my budget currently lol) for two reasons. 1. I prefer a smaller
head on the driver and 2. the 913D2 9.5° that I sold in order to get the
D3 I tended to hit too high, even with different shafts and the loft
adjusted down to 8.75°. The D3 has a lower launch and I went with 8.5° on
the D3 that I ordered and with a lower launch/spin shaft. Can always loft
up a bit if it ends up launching too low. ?
JAG – you’ll love the next two lol?
10.5° driver plus the max adjustment +1.50 ° is only 12º. How did you
guys get 12.5° out of it? mention just about the 0:49 second mark. Just
curious to know if there is a way to get slightly more loft somehow. Love
the videos Rick.?
Found a sticker on the titleist shaft closed to the grip. Is that a sticker
for shaft spine alignment or purification??
Nice video series. Looking forward to seeing the last 3 clubs, but I was
very interested to see that the R15 is more forgiving than the Titleist,
even before fitting the weighting system. Nice job guys.?
Rick wow another great video..I currently hit the Ping G30, never been a
Titleist fan but I think I really want this D2 driver man lol?
Great idea this test!?
Hahaha! Right off the bat! Awesome!?
Hahaha if it could Twerk!?
If you like the Titleist that much for whatever reason, then go for it. A
good fitter can tweak things a little bit to stabilize that dispersion a
touch, and 2600rpm is pretty good at your swing speed, you can go too low
with spin at 90mph SS. As I said, a good fitter will tweak things with the
shaft and surefit to really dial things in a touch with the 915. Go on
Rick, let him have the Titleist!! Lol. Oh no, still two more reviews to
come yet. looking forward to those first.?
It looked like your were hitting the R15 better. If you take out that one
low hitting drive your average 239 yds. It almost seemed like you went into
hitting the R15 with bad intentions.?
Titleist 915 D2 Driver 13 Handicap Testing with Rick Shiels & Rob Potter
@TitleistEurope?
This a great series Rick and Rob ( I can feel new channel coming on ….).
It seems to me that the only way to objectively find a new driver is to
test them out with a launch monitor (sorry if I sound like a dinosaur, I
am one). Assuming one doesn’t care about looks and feel. It’s the result
that counts surely? But my point is that even with a launch monitor, to
be objective, each club has to ‘fitted’ to you personally to get the best
performance for your swing characteristics. I can’t bring myself to
invest £300-£400 in one club without seeing the numbers in black and white
that prove I can be ‘significantly’ more accurate and hopefully longer with
a new driver. Pound for pound I would probably get more accuracy and
distance over the long term by investing the same money in golf lessons
with a PGA pro and practising effectively.?
Henry Wyman Jnr – far from it my friend! ANY new kit I’m giddy about. The
TaylorMade R15 was certainly an interesting one for me as it’s back to a
loft I’m used to hitting, too was the others. So I was excited to hit them
all. Ok, the fact i dont like R15 in white, is only an opinion. For this
test it was about distance with accuracy, so in other words “grip it and
smash it”. The aesthetics would only come into it, if I decided to purchase
one of them.?
Surprised this hadn’t been mentioned yet but congrats on 30,000 subscribers
rick!! Your videos are top quality and we all appreciate them! Cheers?
Your best vids these Rick. Great to see an average joe hitting the balls.
That way we can see how these drivers really perform when not smashed
perfectly every time. Keep it up! Cheers?
I’ve tried a few of these clubs. The sldr just feels cheap, the titleist
just feels quality but with a big price tag too! I’m an improving 18
handicapper taking regular lessons and grinding away at my new swing. For
me when hitting the g30 I had my eureka moment and have just been given an
early birthday present of one which I’m looking forward to taking back out
on the course this weekend. I have a feeling Rob will go down that
route…there’s something about that
Ping sound, electric blue and the massive head (not Ricks) that inspires
confidence. Looking forward to the rest of the series lads. Good work?
this is great stuff Rick, we look at you and Finchey smashing tour player
clubs 300 yards and it is totally unreal to us, this guy hits the ball like
us. If the club is unfriendly the ball is all over the place and when he
hits it just right it goes our sort of distances, we start to get a feel
for what the club would be like for us personally – we are also getting a
strong opinion on what the club is like which to me is more important than
the numbers, I wont buy an ugly club; why should I nowadays, no club is
that much better than the other makes – loving it.?
Good video Rick and Rob! I’ll say that I think if Rob got fit to a
driver/shaft combo he’d likely improve that dispersion and get a few more
yards out of his tee shots.
It looks like you guys are testing all of the new gear except Callaway.
Not sure why in the world you’d potentially leave that off the docket but
hopefully Rob can take a crack at the new 815 Alpha. I’m a mid-handicapper
and it’s the best driver I’ve ever hit off the tee.?
Hi Rick, there is a thing about the GC2 software that i find stupid. If you
drive 45 yards offline to the right then 45 yards offline to the left you
get an average of 0 yards offline. This is RIDICULUS. You should get an
average of 45 yards offline.
What do you think about it ??
Great to see Robert and his beard back again, far more informative for the
general Golfing Public. One quick observation regarding Driver shaft
length, Robert might find that he gets more control from having a slightly
shorter shaft, say 44″ rather than a standard 45″.?
Why don’t you do fittings??
The jlo of drivers is brilliant. I can really relate to robbys analysis. He
really seems to have a consistent driver swing. Can’t wait to see more from
rob in the future. I think he needs to get out on the course with the boys
in the future. What do you think RIc? ?
