  1. I like the drill using three balls and being able to see that you have made
a mark on the mat or divot in front of the ball?

  2. is it the design of the club that makes you hit down on the ball why whould
they make clubs that way i stop topping the balls by moving the ball ahead
in my stance but they don’t go very far when i move the ball in the middle
or slightly back it seems like i end up chopping the ball

  3. @4golfonline Mark, absolutely! I started in October & never understood what
“hitting down” meant. This video cleared it right up. The tip with a leaf
or something ahead of the ball, is like gold. Simple and effective. Now, if
we could get rid of the snow, I could get out and practice more. Cheers!

  4. Is it particularly bad to be a sweeper? I know Tom Watson has called
himself a sweeper in the past. I was wondering what the pros and cons of
being a down-and-through striker is vs. a sweeper?

  5. I see so many people saying golfers should “hit down” on the ball. Most
include no scientific explanation of why. I see that hitting on the upswing
will more likely produce topping or skulling, but wouldn’t hitting near
level also result in the most head-centered shot?

  6. Topping was my big problem caused by not holding left wrist hinge and
lifting upper body up coming into impact. Mostly fixed this by: thinking of
shoulder rotation like a clock face-at top of swing L)shoulder is on 6 and
    R) is 12, swing down to impact and thru so R) is on 6 and L) 12. Also keep
    L) wrist cocked longer than you think; it will release naturally just prior
impact to give that whip action. I was scared of hitting the ground so
practiced making divots by hitting weeds & daisies.

  7. Hey buddy really love your videos….i have a question in golf courses i
see divots always on fairway and they are like 3 to 4 inches long (after
the ball) i take out divots as well but min eis 1/2 inch or 1 inch
max….so whats the secret behind that Thanks again

  8. No. You hit the ball and then the divot starts just underneath the ball,
not behind it. If your swing bottoms out inches in front of the ball,
you’ll probably hit it thin or at worst, you’ll beat down right on top of
the ball. Your swing basically has to be practiced enough that you can
swing at it freely and basically get the clubhead exactly square on the
ball, not above or below or to the side. But it’s actually easier than it
sounds if you understand swing plane.

  9. @4golfonline I really like this tip, but the one that worked best for me is
to lie a tee on the ground about four-six inches in front of the ball and
then the trick is to try to hit the tee as well as the ball. It forced me
to hit the ball first, then the ground second in order to hit the tee as
well. I saw an instant improvement in my iron game because of this.

  10. the size of that door looks like something out of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate
    Factory

  11. Mark, My son was topping the ball or thinning it. After video his swing
    improved immensly thanks.
