  1. Guys, here’s what Wishon writes: “Clubheads spend less than 1/10th of a sec
with the face moving straight through the air towards the ball…..that
means it is the already curved surfaces of the clubhead that are subject to
accelerating through the air, surfaces already well designed to reduce
drag. In wind tunnel tests companies secure the driver head with the face
constantly pointing straight at the wind being blown against them to
simulate the clubhead moving through the air. Hmmmm. What won’t some of
these companies do to get you to fork over your credit card?”?

  2. The truth is the gimmicky “Turbulators”, were not really necessary as the
club is an improvement on the G25 for forgiveness etc with the Turbulators,
but hey if it sells more u cant blame them. Bottom line is the club is
pretty dam good if i must say so.?

  3. You should measure club head speed vs G25 with someone like Gorilla James
    to test the turbulators. ?

  4. I’d trade NOT getting an extra four yards off my driver for money if PING
would make PINK their thing and put profits towards cancer research.
TURBULATOR your way into mamograms and prostate checks and support making
the world a better place, at $20 per sale of a $300+ club. Limited edition
“Bubba Watson” driver and every sale puts money towards Chemo for a human
    would be great.?

  5. Mark, OMG, I had been using the G25 driver since it came out and was very
happy with that driver. However, when I tried the Nike Covert 2.0 and the
G30 one right after the other this past Friday….the G30 was a minimum 15
yards further! And everyone is right, the Nike makes a weird noise when it
strikes the ball. And yes, I bought the G30 and played my first round this
past Saturday….41 on the front and 43 on the back…pared all the par 5s.
Turbulator, Smurbulator, when you whack the ball it goes and goes and
goes!!! Does it really matter what it looks like, really…really??

  6. I wont buy a Ping Driver till they offer better performing golf shafts.
What people don’t realize is the custom shaft Bubba Uses. For better
players, their shafts are not very good compared to what other companies
    are offering. ?

  7. A bit of engineering concepts in my mind would indicate this to be
pluasable. The real test would to take a 11 deg putter light head and cut
some slits in the metal. Then put in on a driver shaft and see what kind of
results you have. Figuring 105 mph at 1.5 seconds the air drag effect must
be real. On a 460 cc driver the hitting area is always smaller the the head
size which is a tin can attached to a titanium face plate. The weight of
the driver attributes mass but also is responsible for the slowdown effect
you get on the down swing and somewhat on the takeaway. The future of
drivers is an increased hitting area and reduced overall mass. Titanium is
a very light material and is used only in drivers allowing them to add side
weight throughout the entire club. Fairway woods are smaller and have
heavier heads because their stainless steel and would be to light with
    titanium I guess.?

  8. I get it with the fins – how they look is up to you, but if the goal is
swing a big flat surface as fast as you can, it seems logical, therefore,
that reducing drag is a good idea. I picked up 1.5 mph in GC2 HMT, from
high 90’s to the 100+ mph range for the first time ever, I love that even
brutal heel/toe strikes don’t significantly impact the numbers.

If you have a G25 or comparable model year club, yeah the gains will be
just a little bit – enough to get lost in the wash from contact/swing
speed/wind/etc. I’ve got an old driver still in the bag though and this
club is a no-brainer upgrade for me.?

  9. Looks a great driver mark any little mods that may gain you a couple of
extra yards has got to be a good thing?

  10. Disappointing. Was looking forward to G30 but i don’t like the garish blue
shaft or the turbulators. Pretty sure Tom Wishon rubbished things like
that regarding air resistance, saying the face is only head-on to the path
for a tiny, tiny fraction of the swing, so those improved air resistance
designs do next to fvck all. #gimmick. Shame because i’m sure it’s a
great club, but these things put me off, sadly.?

  11. I can’t believe ping didn’t put racing stripes on the G30 Driver. I don’t
care about bumps on the head just give me the stripes! Big let down…?

  12. Hi Mark just checking the 1st row speed the numbers beign 154, 153 etc is
that ball speed in mph or kph, just comparing some numbers?

  13. Why would you even compare the SLDR to the G30? They are 2 completely
different animals. The SLDR is the best driver out there when you hit the
centre of the face, but one of the, if not the most penal drivers when you
miss the sweet spot. The G30 is built on misses and maintaining the ball
speed across all areas of the face. That’s why for 99% of all golfers the
G30 is a better fit, but alas, we all think we are on tour, so we lean to
    what the pros play. ?

  14. Just received the G25 driver at Christmas. Getting to know it better all
summer long and it’s staying in my bag regardless of turbulators or any
other features on the new G30. All I can add is Ping makes exceptional
drivers, fairways and hybrids. I have the driver, 5-fairway, 20-hybrid and
23-hybrid. I wouldn’t part with any of these four clubs for anything. If
you are in the market for new metals, try the G30’s as well as the G25’s.
The slightly heavier weight in these clubheads makes a huge difference.
The stock Ping shafts are also perfectly matched in my opinion. ?
